Almost all the researchers, academic researchers, who work on d p a a projects have expressed to me how it's some of the most rewarding work that they've done in their careers. Kerston from the woods hole ocean graphic institute shared a similar feeling. She spent a lot of her time travelling the world diving shipwrecks, sampling small animals. I care about anemones that live on a random shipwreck right off a boston. Nobody else cares about that random anemone on that shipwreck outside of boston. It feels incredibly satisfying to be able to use my skills as a scientist and apply that to something that could potentially speed up our process of locating those remains.
