Robin Hood Stories - What Do They Tell Us?
Robin hood isn't a lord in these stories. He's basically a free peasant who is bound to a feudal estate. Although some of the characters are familiar, there's no maid marian or friar tuck. And perhaps most interestingly, even though nottingham is referenced, robin's home isn't sherwood forest. It's some place called the barnsdale.
