Aristotle is in effect saying, those are the finest moments. That's exactly what the samo somombonum would be. Neither the epicureans nor the stoics particularly valorize or admire solitude. So i think there's a real ambiguity or vagueness in aristotle about quite what the excellence of theoretical reason by yourself would come to.
