Animals and Death

I suspect that one reason that death is so frightening to many people today is that we're so isolated from death. Unlike the past when many people lived on farms and slaughtered the meat of the ape, now meat appears almost miraculously on our plates. I think that's the reason that my mother actually got me pets, is that she wanted me to experience love and loss in a way that you don't get a chance to do it with humans.
