Dinosaurs and Dung Beetle Burrows
Dung beetle burrows are very distinctive and there in modern environments, we don't have animals that back fill sediment with dung to provision thes. We studied these burrows before we found the snails but as we keep learning about these animals that are associated with the dung, that actually opens up more and more intriguing views of the ancient environment. In fact, one or the thing, not only did we have the dung beetles,. But these coperlites were filled with wood, conifer wood. And it became evident that the dinosaurs had actually ingested rotted wood.
