Gorsen said that Gothak was like him. He had never backed down from pain or fear. When others lose hope, your grit can save them. Lachlan thought of the tads and tasses scrambling over each other at play. The sun's warmth poured down on him. Somewhere, a bird of prey called out in the thrill of the hunt. Nesi found herself at the druid circle, their home, back in another forest, far away and before. She saw children dancing and singing around the fire. Some of them seemed so tall really, though. I'm just smaller, she thought. Not big enough to stand up for what is right.
