The History of the Spanish Civil War
The relationship between, of the insurrection to the Civil War is a very interesting question and it's one that scholars really don't like to talk about a lot. The idea of the army is central to law, an order and a guardian of apatria. I think it predates 1934, but I think it really becomes cemented by the insurrection itself. So certainly, there is an important legacy of the insurrection itself in terms of providing, I suppose, the experience of revolutionary collaboration amongst the left. And also prefigures some of Francaism in that respect in terms of what Francaist identity would be.
