Why Are Some Foods More Fattening Than Others?

There's a lot going on behind the calories. The body has no calorie receptors. In fact, the only thing it responds to is the hormones. When you eat two foods, 100 calories of cookies versus 100 calories of broccoli, the hormones are demonstrably different. All it really means from a practical standpoint is that some foods are more fattening than other foods.
