Prudentius's Battle Between Pride and Humility

Lewis: Only the crudest allegory will represent internal warfare by a pitched battle. Lewis also calls our attention to the poetic difficulty that Prudentius is faced with when he must portray the battle between pride and men's humility or humility. The most famous of all medieval plays is a play called Every Man, but it's not really typical because the Every Man in the story is not actually fighting the bellum in Testinum as God has sent death for him.
