Aren't Neurotypical Individuals Still Conscious?
There are many, many different ways of being conscious. We all have different rences of the world and of the self. It's a mistake to think of consciousness as arrangedn on a single scale. The octopus is evolutionary, very, very distant from us. A shared common ancestor was probably some kind of flat worm. But octopuss have develope minds independently. And in fact, octopuses have this other, more chemical or taste based way of distinguishing self from other. That doesn't mean that i can just refracts back in ways on what my experience of being me is like.
