Democratic Party in 2016

Democrats won by firing up the conservative base and also by demoralizing the Democratic base. Democrats used to win elections one way in a less polarized time. And so just the idea that I think Chuck Schumer still has is not clear to me that way is wrong. But it seems to me a major problem for Democrats in 2016 was their base was not that excited about their candidate.
