Vladimir the Great and Saint Vladimir the Red Sun

Vladimir I is credited with bringing Christianity to Russia. He was born around 956 and his father was Fyadislav the first who was Grand Prince of Kiev. As a child, his grandmother Olga was a huge part of his life. She was an early adopter of Greek Orthodox Christianity in Kiev and Rus. Vladimir fled to Scandinavia when Yaropolk ousted him as Prince of Novograd.
