Advising as a Junior Faculty
What i found most challenging switching from student to faculty was a time management first. You have to adjust this idea of a advising students are supposed to doing the work yourselve. Sometimes it's very tempting to jumping and do a lot of the work yourself, but you're not there to do the work for the students. Another challenge is that, as a student, you know what advising style works for you. Some students might like more han's own advice, more frequent meetings going through the implementation. So finding the right balance between what its student needs to be successful and to make progress can be difficult at the beginning.
