The Man Wins the Gold for the Marathon, Against All Evidence

Fred Lors was the runner who forfeited because he was having stomach cramps. As a crowd of spectators and race officials watch, he gets back on the marathon route and starts running again in front of everybody. He actually ends up running all the way back into the stadium. So, thousands of people in the stadium erupt in cheers, thinking they're watching the man win the gold for the marathon.
