Animals Have No Per Se Operation of Itself

The argument that animals have only sense and not intellect, everything their soul does is based on their bodies. So since he thought, only intellect doesn't depend on the body, and they don't have intellect, then when their bodies fall apart at death, so do their souls. What do you think of this argument? It depends crucially on two premises. First, thereis a premise, we mentioned earlier, that animals have sense, but not intellect. And second, there's the premise, aquinas simply takes over from aristotle, that only the intellect requires an immaterial part. I think both of those assumptions are open to challenge.
