The Evolution of the Brain

In 1848, Phineas Gage used a steel rod to pack dynamite into the ground. The pole went through his orbital cortex and it went through the left orbital frontal region of his frontal lobe. This is an electroencephalogram, electroencephalography. These are brain waves, invented in 1924 by Hans Berger. MRI's come about more in the 1990s. Technology dates back from before that but now we're able to really see where things localize in the brain with an MRI. And even more advanced imaging has come out. It makes a big difference in the lives of people within neuroscience.
