The Princess Bride by S Morgan Stern

The book is 100% that voice. The movie, instead of doing that, it's the Fred Savage thing this,. like they're saying the framing device is William Gold, Goldman himself in the book. And he's almost giving a running commentary on what works and what doesn't. So it's kind of an insight into the adaptation process in a weird sort of way. I remember when I read it, it was very eye opening to me in the novel sense. Like, it was kind of the type of novels I wanted to write myself.
