The Importance of Free Trade in the WTO

The WTO was founded in 1995. In some ways, it's the declaration of victory for the United States in the Cold War. Some people will tell you that the moment the WTO went off the rails was when it let China in. I don't know about that. If you're part of the WTO and you're a good faith member of the WTO, that means you want to be part of the system that is moving towards free trade. It's more about a rising tide lifting all boats.
