Is There a Difference Between Essence and Accident?
essence and accident is basically the idea that there are certain qualities that are essential to a thing, and if a thing does not have those qualities, it is no longer that thing. Accidental qualities are qualities that are accidental to the thing. So one examp would be a house. If we painted a blue house red, that is an accident. And so if it doesn't have that quality, it's still the thing, it's just different in some way. But i'm because logist are using this term more and more now to think about how people create this essence and accident distinction all the time.
