The 18 Year Plan

The Future Fund from the Liberals does sound extraordinarily cooked. Its children under 10 are given this account with 400 bucks in it. The state government would match that up until the age of 18, then they can use that on housing and education. It really is just entrenching, not just inequality, because of course, families who need it most are not going to be able to afford put $400 aside. And I am actually quite terrified in the precedent it sets for education. This feels like there's a way to hide assets in some way. I don't trust it. Yeah, we get ended up with multi-billion dollar kids future funds, I'm sure.
