The Importance of Prophets in Divine Continuity
Prophets are normally understood to be a kind of a different category. They're the human beings that God has inspired to speak his word. So it's a way of God communicating without himself becoming a human or sending an angel down. The idea that a human would be exalted to become divine is found long before Jesus.
