I could definitely see him having enough investiture that if you get enough of a shards power, you can sort of peer into the future or like he might be able to have some sort of like I'm reading through connections in the spiritual realm. There's a lot of different paths of weird magical crap that they have. These are probably some of the most magical beings that are not directly related to a shard right? And like he might have a magic computer that look into that just like interfaces with the spiritual realm and he can look up information. That's a good that's actually very plausible.
