A lot of the research about autophagy and fasting is in rodents. Autophagy is activated much quicker into a much greater degree in rodents than in humans. Rodents just inherently get into this little ketogenic state. Their insulin is exceptionally low. And you've got to throw everything in the kitchen sink at these guys to make them insulin resistant and start to gain weight.
