The Future of Computer Chess

The introduction of machine learning techniques into computer chess has led to new improvements that go beyond the playing strength of those programs just using traditional search algorithms. There's also been interest in whether we can find a way to make humans and computers play together so we're seeing human assisted computer chess matches making the game more interesting again at that level. The combination of human intuition with the calculating abilities of a computer program might be better than a computer program on its own.
