I worked in my dad's pub from age six. It felt useful, could see the reward. Dad would pay me after every session I did. He wouldn't pay me every week or every month. But he'd be a pound or a five or a tenor. You know, the denominations went up. Because there's the instant reward for the work. Otherwise why work?
