When someone buys a home from a property developer they don't own the land they just take over the lease on the land which for residential property lasts 70 years. If the lease was granted to developers 10 years ago but the apartment was just completed home buyers might have only 60 years left in the home. Now in such a situation home buyers are going to find themselves waiting longer and longer to get the homes that they've paid for.
