Is There a Short and Simple Reason for a Termination?

I have a lot of clients who are afraid to give someone a reason for their termination. I think they're just scared to say the wrong thing. If it's something based on a past discipline issue, definitely reference that past and the fact that it's not gotten any better. At least the person is left with something as opposed to, I have no idea why I was terminated.
