Is There a 19th Century Couple?

It sounds like in many ways, contemporary academics would be able to relate to Boas. He's trying to find a job near them but there are no jobs available on the market. And he has family, a mother that is very, very, very determined that he come back to Germany to live. So she's constantly after him, you know, about loyalty to their parents, etc,. etc. It's sad to read those letters.
