Is There Anything but Hierarchy?

Post moderns accept the idea that there's almost nothing but hierarchy, and that people's fundamental motivations is to climb up the hierarchy. But i'm very sceptical of people who try to reduce all complex phenomena to a single explanatory mechanism. The most effective way for human beings to occupy positions of authority isn't through the naked expression of power. That's actually unbelievably unstable. Power only rules in tyrannies. And here, i think the post moderns are rightly diverse in their views. They will accept that power is operating in a hierarchical context, but they want to use whatever power they have to redistribute more equally across the world. So what you take to be the metaphysical reaction to this
