Rent is a musical about friendship, outcasts and the important people in your life are never forgotten. It was written by larson who lost his best friend to aids when he was just 18 years old. He wrote it himself with help from business partner seller at new york theatre workshop. The pair asked for funding so they could stage full fledged production of rent. After final dress rehearsal Larson said rent was 'as good as it was ever going to be' Larson has now moved on to write another play called A Man Walks On To Another Planet.
