The student, the alleged grapist, got transferred to another school. This can include kids who are literal sex offenders. It is not easy to just kick a kid out of school and not educate them. If you're outraged at that policy, that schools have to educate even sex offenders, that's one thing. But it isn't inherently suspicious.
