The Classic of Getting a Cat in the Yuan Dynasty

The first funerary commemoration of a cat immortalized in Chinese literature was from Wu Chion. Cats were put on a pedestal in Song China over in Europe around the same time cats especially black cats were reviled and symbols of evil. In Scotland cats were actually treated as a stroke of good luck and a sign that prosperity was on its way. It was also considered good luck to have a black cat on a ship at the time.
