Penny Dreadfuls - It Gets Worse

In 1895, 13 Rob Robert Combs murdered his mother. The prosecution accused his interest in penny dreadfuls of being part of the inspiration for the murder. This all led to Alfred Harmsworth, who was the founder of that most respectable tabloid, the Daily Mail. He started producing half penny dreadfulers, which is a great name. And these tall, righteous, high-minded moral tales and they cost half a penny to buy. So people are more likely to purchase them over penny dreadfuls. Penny Dreadfuls became just another way to point fingers at the youth of the time because it was something they didn't understand.
