The Risks of Overhyping Technology
The tech is really interesting. It also is limited in what it can do as you've pointed out many times on your sub stack. And yet people like Sam Altman types and people of that ilk who are talking about, okay, well now that we've built large language models that can output text, we're on our way to general intelligence. You know, we should be able to tell the machines basic moral values like don't harm humans and be honest. The reality is they're too dumb to do those things. They were particularly too dumb to be honest.
