The Effects of Stem Cells on Tissue Retention

In the brain, they hang out near the ventricles where special nutrient-rich fluid flows. Same thing in the gut. It gets really cool because if you look close at a gut, it has all these heaks and valleys. Those cells that are unable to retain stemness differentiate into one of six different mature cell types. They then move upwards up in the gut where they're finally shed into the intestinal lumen after three or five days.
