How to Write a Book
The first chapter is astonishing in that kind of fluidity. I have to say, it's a perfect example of the thing I thought psychologically of when this broken-hearted woman who's reconstructed herself says her heart can't be broken. That's also where the double appears as well and all the unconscious thoughts are there. You feel that the kind of ambivalence about Love is in her. The beginning of any book takes me longer than anything else in the book. So the opening chapter is eight pages. And I think that took me about four months writing eight pages.
