The Power of Stories

The Romans had a very different set of moral intuitions about crucifixion. The infanticide in the Roman world was extremely common. In every Roman household, the father of the house had the ability to decide if that child was going to live or die. If he decided they were going to die, they simply left that infant out and it would die. That just demonstrates how powerful stories are.
