What's at stake is whether an authoritarian regime that stifles virtually any dissent is able to violate every component of international law and roll over a free and democratic country. It suddenly makes all those frontline states, particularly the Baltic nations in Poland, potentially up for grabs next. The hypocrisy of some of these guys that I work with who want to give Putin a free pass in Ukraine. But at the same time, say I'm concerned about President Xi taking on Taiwan. Well, you give Putin a win in Ukraine, and that is nothing but a full green light for Xi's expansionist opportunities vis-a-vis Taiwan and frankly, in all of Southeast Asia.
