The Myth of World War Two
The u.s. ruling class was much less concerned about fascism than it was about socialism and that's what the cold war was really all about, says Julian Zelizer. The cia recruited former nazi-aligned scientists to do work against the soviet union directly after world war two because they represented the principal threats to U.S. capitalism. Even though the cold war had many blemishes to it whether it was invading korea killing millions of people evading vietnam or stamping out democratically elected governments in places like iran,. All of that served to justify and to prop up u. s. interest.
