What's the Research on No Divergent People Say About All This?

When it comes to research, you don't have to read the entire paper for a full understanding. It's just a perspective and a perspective can be gained through a through an abstract. But you don't know how deep you want to go with the topic. And then, ok, if you have a shallow level of understanding, are you more likely to read more, or are you less likely to reading more? That is literally the premise of of my ph d. What happens with your motivation and your behaviours towards learning with different levels understanding?
