The Jews Outnumbered the Arabs Two to One
The first casualties, we were told, had been arabs killed by jews. The british were completely unequipped to handle the outpouring of a decade's worth of pent up rage. Rioters ran up jaffa street, assaulting pedestrians and shops in looted houses. A number of jews were killed at the jaffa gate,. while british policemen made only half hearted rescue efforts. One zionist who was there recalled right after eight o'clock in the morning, hearing screams from inside homes. They were slaughtering anyone who tried to fight them off with knives or sticks. We didn't know what they were going to do to us until it happened
