In the physical realm, there's an ettmetal reaction in whatever form we want. But if there's some aspect of the cognitive realm that's on the way to pulling all of this energy, you pull some of the Cognitive realm into the physical. Maybe a metal reaction like this has some bridging potential that is doing something we're unaware that's causing a weird portal.
