How Do You Test the Femoral Nerve?

We use a side-line slump position where we get the pace to lie with the tested leg up almost. And then we measure the range of hip extension with the knee at 90 degrees flexion. Then we change the position of the neck. In this slump position, neck flexion has a better chance to influence the course of the nerve. It's difficult to know other symptoms because you're stretching the femoral nerve or because you're stretched the rectus and some other muscle. So if you've got a specific injury like an ankle sprain, it's telling you a certain nerves that were more likely to be effective.
