There were reports that Rupert Murdoch basically silenced Jerry Hall through their divorce settlement and banned her specifically from leaking or sharing ideas with succession. I feel like maybe it would have been good for him if he got on to stopping her leaking from Vanity Fair beforehand as well. The parallels are stark. And of course, the writer, Jesse Armstrong, 10 years prior, wrote a screenplay about the Murdochs that couldn't in the end be produced. So I mean, the links are pretty clear. But at the end of the day, especially when you're working in a fictionalized version, you're always going to veer towards what makes it the most dramatic.
