The First Spacecraft From America

Venera one was the first mission successfully launched to another planet, but it didn't survive. So they had all these issues initially and America just kept doing well in those early days. And so it was veneera three in 66 that actually became the first spacecraft from any nation to make it to the surface of another world. It crashed into that surface.
