What Does It Mean to Win?

The West may not want to push things so far that Russia has an abject loss because that could turn into something much more dangerous. It also reflects an interesting reorientation on the Ukrainian side. What does it even mean to win? I think it literally means pushing the Russians out of all the eastern parts of Ukraine and then getting back Crimea, which wasn't really on the table in the early conversations. President Putin can't lose this war and stay in power. That's pretty consistent with the historical record.
