On December 21st, 2012, the Mayan calendar ended. A lot of people thought that that meant the world was going to end. This was like the peak of the reptilian conspiracy theory. So there were various apocalypses and new agey people who thought it was not an apocalypse but a beginning of spiritual enlightenment or growing consciousness.
