The main emphasis was on friendship, but that did change in the music industry. Fidelity was seen as uncool and it could be loyal and faithful to someone if you wanted to be - either a male or a female. It just became politicised along with Vietnam and... Well, suddenly, women were free to sleep with who they wanted. You couldn't really get the pill, even if you were married, unless you had your husband's concerned. Or if you felt pregnant and you weren't married, you wouldn't be able to keep the child. There were three options: handing over the baby for adoption or at worst adoption. And keeping the baby and bringing it up alone. P
