Lennon talked about both New York City and America as the place he wanted to be famously said once if I lived in the days of Rome, I would want to live in Rome. Lennon is such a profound American in that sense. He was shifting and didn't, you know, disagree with the government, but it didn't mean he disagreed with the concept or the project of America.
