The Role of Retina in Blinding Diseases

Diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and red knight pigmentosa can render you partly or entirely blind. The retinal ganglion cells in particular that send the information to the brain remain alive and connected to the brain. If you're able to replicate what the retina does normally, if your device is behaving faithfully like the retina would normally behave, it could be used for a bionic eye.
